It’s been almost two weeks since you last heard from me. During most of the pandemic, I haven’t submitted puzzles to publishers. I’ve submitted a few lately, and that has crowded out Grid Therapy a bit more than I’d like. You’ll be seeing collaborations I did with Beth Rubin in the New York Times and on Spyscape Crosswords soon. I do a puzzle for TCU Magazine four times a year. I have some theme queries in at a couple of places, and I have a few puzzles waiting to be reviewed at the New York Times, so we’ll see how that goes. In other words, I decided to start seeing other people. It’s not you, it’s me.
But if you’ll have me, I’d like to spend some time with you today. I don’t know how to quit you, and I wouldn’t if I did.
I'm a husband, father, psychologist, musician, and crossword constructor living in Catonsville, MD. My puzzles have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and its syndicates, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Andrews McMeel Universal Syndicate, the American Values Club Crossword, Spyscape Crossword, The Crosswords Club, and crossword apps such as the Redstone Crossword Puzzle App on iOS and Google Play. All of that means I've been published in every newspaper in the United States and many others around the world. Here at Grid Therapy, I can show a bit more of myself than the major publishers can allow. I hope you enjoy your time here on the crossword couch! I'd love to hear from you if you have comments or suggestions. If you're interested in having a custom crossword puzzle created for your event or organization, email me at drtrent (at) gmail.com.

Loved, loved, LOVED your clue for 50D! I imagine that, as a constructor, there are times when you must rely on the Old Familiar Shorties, and that’s OK (except for OREO), as long as the clue is decent. This one made me LOL. And speaking of clues, here’s a suggestion in case you have to use 1D again in another puzzle: Recently, I found that I couldn’t download any more tunes onto my beloved iPod, which I like to use at the gym because it’s small and lightweight. I called for help, and the nice Apple employee I spoke to told me apologetically that the iPod is now considered a “vintage device,” and there is no longer any help available for it. Vintage device. Nice term for “It’s obsolete and you must be ancient!”
The long answers were universally excellent. Another fine one, Trent! Thank you!

I can relate. I had a 2011 iMac which I souped up to the max back then. It still has plenty of power, but I haven’t been able to update the OS in several generations because they don’t support it anymore. I use Logic Pro for my music and couldn’t update to the most recent version of that. Even though the specs of my computer could handle it. So I finally gave in a couple of months ago, submitted to my Apple overlords, and bought a new M1 MacBook Air.
Glad you enjoyed the puzzle!
