Free Association 36
Congratulations to Tyler Hinman, newly-crowned 2021 American Crossword Puzzle Tournament champion. He’s pictured here for that reason, and also because as per usual, the picture relates to something in the puzzle. This is a screen grab of his Twitch stream, which is worth watching. You can follow him on Twitch here.
This week, Norah Sharpe test-solved for me, and she was absolutely wonderful in giving me useful feedback. She was extraordinarily generous with her time, and you would do well to go visit her puzzle blog: Norah’s Puzzles. Thanks also to Matt Gritzmacher for helping me out with a test solve this week. The puzzle is better because of these two fine people.
It hasn’t yet been a week since my last post, but as I’ve told you before, I’ll post when I have one. Here is Free Association 36. Attending the virtual ACPT this past weekend confirmed for me yet again that puzzle people are the best of all people. I’m glad to be part of your world. Have a great week. See you back here… whenever.
Well, some of these are a stretch (renfaire? really?) but all-in-all, a good, solid puzzle. Thanks for sharing this one with us.
Thanks! I’m fascinated about Ren Faire being a stretch. This is why I love comments on my blog. I had no idea that would be a stretch for some. I’m curious how many others found this obscure. It is well-known to me and rolls right off my tongue. Thanks for giving me that insight.
Just discovered your puzzles and enjoyed this one and your last themeless! It’s nice seeing crosswords from a fellow therapist. I’m not sure how much that plays into your constructing, but it’s fun to see something like the Rorschach test mentioned or OFFLABEL use. RENFAIRE was pretty familar to me, btw. Enjoyed the clue for ALLHOURS as well, as I’m guessing many parents would. Looking forward to more grid therapy!
Thanks Sean. The truth is I don’t even know how much being a psychologist plays into my constructing. It’s an essential part of who I am so my guess is it plays more of a role than I am even aware of, but I don’t make any conscious effort to shoehorn it in. I’m glad you found Grid Therapy and hope to hear more from you in the future.
